Is the home of the Bedouin Source Preservation and Research Center, Inc., and a herd of Bedouin Source horses which are exclusively descended from horses identified in the Blue Arabian Horse Catalog as being BLUE STAR.
We offer the services of four Bedouin Source stallions, private treaty, and occasionally have foals available. However, we aren't in the business to sell horses; all of our breedings are done to improve the depth and quality of our own herd. Our goal is to "sell the concept" of Preservation, not only of our own type of horse, but any Bedouin Source horses in danger of extinction. Once an interested person has "bought" the concept of Preservation, we will help to locate the type and quality of horse, from among the many Bedouin source groups, which suits that individual.
All of our stallions, and the majority of our mares are descended exclusively from the bloodline crosses of *FADL, *TURFA, SIRECHO (*NASR X *EXOCHORDA) and *MUHAIRA. All but three of our purebreds (one stallion and two mares) trace in tail/female to *TURFA, making them Abayyah Al Hurmah by strain name and type. The other two are, of course, tail/female to *MUHAIRA, also an Abayyah. MD BINT MARECHO is a FADL-TURFA- SIRECHO, only. The remaining mares in our herd are also a tail/female *TURFA, descended from *FADL-*TURFA-SIRECHO-*MUHAIRA, but in combination with one or two additional foundation BLUE STARS. Twenty years ago, I promised a twelve year old girl that I would never sell her horse....so..... now, last and by no means least, is Yo Zahiyah, known affectionately as "Zee". She will celebrated her 32nd Birthday, and her 25th year with us in June, 2000. Zee is a 7/8 Arabian mare who started us down the "Arabian" path. While no longer in production, Zee remains the Grand-dam of them all! After a lifetime of devotion to our family as a 4-H horse, she has earned her place in the sun. The foals we offer are those which exhibit the quality we expect from each breeding, but which, for some reason, do not fit with our own current needs. 1997 produced four stud colts, of which we are retaining two. The other two are available to preservation homes. In 1998, we had two more colts, both of which are available to preservation.
Among our friends and relatives it is commonly said that we have "gone to the Dogs". In light of the fact that our dog population rivals our horse population, this might be considered a true statement. We have several Australian Shepherds and Chinese Cresteds, and one Brittany. While I would have preferred to use "Morning Dove" as a kennel name, it had already been registered by someone else, so we became Jonbrecy (pronounced JON-BREE-SEE). We are currently competing in Conformation, as well as training in Obedience and Agility with all breeds. All of our breeding stock is or will be OFA certified for hips (and patellas for the Cresteds) and CERF clear of eye diseases.
If you are looking for a puppy or an adult dog, regardless of the Breed you desire, please follow the links to Pet Store Puppy, Dog's Prayer, and The Meaning of Rescue. Educate yourself about the breed of your choice, and consider a rescue dog. Unless you intend to become a dedicated, reputable breeder, please spay or neuter your pet. Contact us about Australian Shepherd Rescue. We are members of ARPH, the official Australian Shepherd Club of America rescue group.
Morning Dove farm is located in Ashdown, Arkansas, just off State Route 71. If you are ever in the area, feel free to give us a call at 870/898-9076 or email at [email protected] us with comments or questions and arrange to come visit.
I'd like to introduce Holly Wheeler, who has taken on the project of training some of our young stock.
